Mobility

It is now commonly accepted that mobility is increasingly shaping business strategies all over the world. Actually, the rapid adoption of this technology has brought IT against numerous and, at the same time, complicated and persistent challenges. Mobile devices and applications are significantly expanding, forcing IT to improve the balance between devices and management, safety and proper application deployment. On the other hand, the number of available mobile technology options, indicates the different deployments in modern businesses, according to IDC’s recent survey (http://bit.ly/2djNJkX).

The data

After thoroughly examining the interesting results of this survey, it is worth noting that 76% of the bigger organizations have identified the value of third-party management in some, or even all, of their mobility strategies. Nevertheless, there are still safety issues and concerns for excessive cost when it comes to deploying mobile devices and applications.

Additionally, the survey shows that 74% of big organizations in the USA either already offer, or intend to put into effect, a CYOD (“Choose Your Own Device”) program for their employees within the next year. Actually, it is pointed out that BYOD (“Bring Your Own Device”) programs are not as easily manageable and safe.

Despite any issues though, 65% of the businesses clearly intend to increase their mobile expenses in the coming year, focusing especially on purchasing mobile devices for their employees, as well as on the safety of applications and content safety solutions. According to IDC, the parameters that affect the mobile device deployment strategies are cost reduction and safety risk mitigation, while there is still great room for improving these areas.

On a positive note, even though there are still important challenges to be dealt with, 76% of the participants, pointed out that their experience in mobile application deployment has actually exceeded their initial expectations. Surely, this is something extremely encouraging for the current status and the future of this technology.
