Digital transformation problems and how to avoid them!

Trends & Views

Digital transformation remains one of the most important issues for all businesses, although the process remains complex, time-consuming and requires strategy and planning. False perspective, reluctance to change, lack of analysis, or “transformation for the sake of transformation” are some of the most common pitfalls you should try to avoid.

Transformation as an end in itself

In many cases, when starting the digital transformation process, people are confused about what it is and why it is necessary. Certainly, evolution and development are the main objectives, but that does not entail that the new technology will automatically achieve these goals on its own.

Digital transformation should focus on customers and the long-term business goals. Therefore, the first questions that need to be answered when considering a technological upgrade, are what goals have been set and what obstacles may arise, and not how this trendy technology can be adopted. After answering these questions, those in charge should communicate the idea to the executives in order to get the necessary approval and proceed.

Right and wrong perspective

Digital transformation is not just about technology; it involves a shift in business culture and structure. And unless this is understood, it will not be possible to apply the benefits of digital transformation to all aspects of your business operations, including innovation and sales growth. A more comprehensive and open-minded perspective will result in the exploitation of more opportunities.

Difficulty in adapting to change

The inability to manage change and related processes is a major problem for businesses. Implementing new technology requires employee support and training in the use of this new technology, and then a reassessment of both roles and responsibilities of all parties involved in the implementation of AI and other automation technologies, and also the establishment of new security standards and Enterprise Mobility protocols.

Overlooking these issues and relying entirely on technology would be a great mistake, as you will miss the opportunity for significant transformational changes. Businesses that fail to change their policies and practices regarding new systems, remain clung to outdated methods and fail to meet market challenges.

Analytics and metrics

Do not expect to get the results you want from the very beginning. In order to know what works and what needs to be improved, you should constantly monitor and analyze the relevant metrics. Businesses that excel in digital transformation are those that use data to measure success and improve their performance.
